From Victorian era curiosities to early 20th century equestrian and motorcycle wear to rare WW2 era items - Black Sign garments are beautifully constructed, with a shared identity and aesthetic cohesion running through the collection to a degree we rarely see in brands focusing on reproductions & recreations.
The Sergeants Vest is inspired by a cotton waistscoat from the 1910s. Black Sign took the original design and tweaked it, adding much needed storage space with the inclusion of pockets. Made from lightweight cotton, it is a perfect layering piece in Spring when the weather seems to never be able to make up its mind.
The fabric is a 100% cotton Sashiko dyed in black and natural indigo. As the vests fades with everyday wear and tear, the black will color will come through the indigo giving the vest a rich depth of color.
